Text-to-speech (artificial voices) for audio guides?

I have noticed that in the last 2 years more and more audio guide production companies are offering text-to-speech to produce the audio guide recordings. This undoubtedly reduces costs a lot and I am aware that great progress has been made lately in the quality of artificial voices. So far at Nubart we have always insisted on using real human voices, as we still believe that the quality of intonation and the emotionality conveyed cannot be matched by artificial systems.
However, given the increasing profusion of these offers, I am beginning to wonder if we are making a mistake with this approach. I would like to know the opinion of museums. Are there any situations in which, in your opinion, the simple transmission of information by means of an artificial voice meets your expectations?
