    Hello Everyone -

After many years of working on community revitalization and public health in Trenton, NJ, I recently joined a colleague in a new effort to create a museum focused on graffiti and street art in downtown Trenton. The goal is to develop an institution that serves and attracts a broad audience, while respecting, reflecting, and engaging the local art community - that is, a museum in Trenton, not one solely focused on Trenton. I'm trained as a city planner, not as a museum professional, so I'm looking for new connections, advice, resources, etc. We know we won't be the people to design and operate this museum, and that we need to bring in the right consultants, staff, and other partners. I'll be at the AAM conference next week for the first time and would appreciate meeting anyone who can spare the time to share their wisdom (or their skeptical questions)!

    Thanks in advance,

    Julia Taylor

    Hi Julia,

That's so exciting to hear! I work at the New Jersey State Museum as the Assistant Curator of Science Education, also in Trenton. I won't be at AAM next week, but I can connect you with some of our art curators or our executive director Margaret O'Reilly (also our previous Fine Art Curator) via email if you would be interested.
