    Hi!

Our museum, which houses about 20,000 objects, currently uses TMS Collections for its collections database and public facing online website. Gallery Systems has recently shown us a demo of TMS Media Studio. We were wondering if any other museum has been using this new system? Is it easier now to share images with external partners? Is image-sharing a more streamlined process with TMS Media Studio? Are there any facets of TMS Media Studio that you are not a fan of or would like improved?

Similarly, does anyone have any experience with other collections management software that functions similar to TMS Media Studio, making all object images easy to share and locate? We have an issue with how our images are organized/named and shared with other departments, faculty, or scholars, and we're looking into possible options to make managing images a more intuitive and easy process. We'd like to be able to easily locate an image and send it to our internal departments or external partners with a quick link that eliminates the need for downloading, creating zip files, etc. I recently saw a demo of Artwork Archive and they seem to do a really great job of having everything in one repository that makes sense, and managing images is much easier. Do you have any other software suggestions that our Museum can compare to determine next steps?

Thank you so much in advance!

    Hi Natasha,

I completed a project with the Royal BC Museum in Victoria, BC, Canada, implementing SKINsoft's S-Museum CMS.  It has a comprehensive DAM module which RBCM's user community has been happy with.

If you're interested in considering a new CMS for the Lowe Art Museum, please contact me directly and we can discuss further.

    Best regards,

    Hi Natasha,

You may also want to look at DYSECO's DYMETRIX platform. It is not an image-management system, but it helps museums centralize and share environmental, preservation, and building-performance data across conservation, facilities, and leadership teams.

These short videos give a quick overview:

It may be a useful complementary tool as you evaluate ways to make museum information easier to access and share.
