The reasoning for "sunsetting" the professional networks was not clearly stated. It seems it has something to do with improving equity in professional network leadership. It seems that they had a stategic framework and surveys that showed AAM that the current Professional Network structure did not meet their needs. They say they are rethinking how the volunteer system will work.

Greetings,
I was not able to attend the conference this year. Can you share their reasoning for not supporting professional networks like NAME? On the surface, to me, that doesn't make any sense, but I guess I am missing something.
Best regards,

AAM is no longer supporting any professional networks, including NAME starting 1 June 2023. NAME intends to continue in some form. If you are interested in being informed of future NAME events, add your name to their mailing list.

The current call closes June 1st, so make sure to submit your pitches soon!
"Alternative Realities," the Spring 2024 issue of Exhibition, will explore the many ways exhibitions can question or critique our assumptions about existing systems and open pathways to new or previously underexplored alternatives.
The full call and instructions for how to submit a proposal can be found in the attachment or on the journal's website: https://www.name-aam.org/call-for-papers
