Hi Adrienne,
I've yet to attend AAM, I'm a little jealous. My calendar hasn't lined up with the conference yet. I agree, folks like us are often overlooked.
I do enjoy our regional conference WMA. You might consider yours if you haven't gone yet (https://www.semcdirect.net). I find a few veins of exhibition-related sessions there sometimes.
Have you looked at these groups:
PACCIN.org: Focused solely on art museums, it's preparator centric. They have a great forum that can help answer specific questions. They have occasional conferences and webinar trainings.
MuseumTrade.org: Because many of us wear multiple hats this site cross-pollinates all museum types and integrates preparator (handler, technician) perspectives with designer and at times education concerns (think interactives).
I hope that helps,
Cheers,
Matt

Subject: Art Museum Exhibition Specific Professional Network?
Hi all, this was my first time attending AAM and while it was so exciting to meet community members, I felt like it was truly hard to find my art museum peers among all the 3000 attendees. Is there an existing smaller breakout group or professional network that I may have missed? I attended the NAME Neighborhood groups and the NAME luncheon, but they seemed more focused on connecting professional exhibition companies with institutions. I am looking to speak directly with the curatorial/collections/exhibition spaces at my peer art museums since we are such a niche group with extremely specific methods and concerns.
Thanks for any help!
Adrienne
