I want to know: What cool and geeky tools are you using; unusual tools that you're using that everyone should know about. I'll jump in and share this Universal Socket. I wanted this community to know about this tool because I just love it. Why grab the whole set of sockets when heading up to the gallery or getting on the road. Just grab this beauty and tackle every bolt size in the gallery. These are great when you want to grab just one tool to do it all. A visiting courier introduced me to this tool. I hope it's ok to post this to the forum.

I found a hard working, museum tested, MuseumTrade approved Universal Socket for the preparator, technician, handler community and stocked them in my Gear Shop. I wanted to celebrate by offering up a couple for FREE. Again, I hope this is ok for this forum. The giveaway is posted on my "socials", but I didn't want Museum Junction folks to miss out if you don't happen follow me yet. I want everyone to succeed, the right tool can make a big difference.

So how about you, what is your favorite tool or favorite tool this week?

It could be ANY tool, inside or outside the gallery. Just any tool that help you with your exhibits. C'mon, I know you have a pet tool that you can't live without!!! Let us know....???

I use our pocket microscope a lot. Not so much for exhibits, although I did use it once to try to identify a colony of nearly microscopic insects that were on an object we had previously displayed outside and were repositioning indoors.

Oh do tell, tell us more! Does it plug into your phone perhaps? What kinds of things do you inspect?

Nope, it's not electronic (though we do have one of those as well). I use it the most for assessing photographs, along with a jeweler's loupe. Both were materials provided by the Image Permanence Institute as part of a workshop I attended. Folks should definitely check out their Graphics Atlas if they haven't already.

That's cool Michelle thank you for sharing the tool and the resource. I have them bookmarked now (https://www.imagepermanenceinstitute.org). Might you snap a shot of your tool in action? Either or both of your microscopes.... Pretty please?
