  • 1.  Applying for ROAM

    Posted 20 days ago

    Hi all!

My museum has been trying to come up with incentives to boost our membership levels. We've recently discovered ROAM (Recipricol Organization of Associated Museums) and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this. We are already free to visit but would offer discounts for our gift shop or events. Does anyone know if ROAM ever declines applications or if they accept even if the museum is unaccredited? Any thoughts or experiences are appreciated!

I would also look at NARM. Compare the list of participants and think about which would be more attractive to your members. I find I use NARM far more often in my travels.

    Hi Kelsee,

I can confirm that they accept unaccredited museums. My institution is also free to visit, and our ROAM membership applies to events and gift shop purchases. We very recently joined, so no feedback on usage yet.

Kelsie, I would second checking into NARM as well - here's more info: Resources For Institutions – North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Association®

I believe NARM is better known and is definitely a selling point when promoting membership.

    Best of luck!
