We'll be rolling out iPads as part of a new app this summer. We're also considering a Driver's License to check one out, but have some concerns about requiring an ID (not all visitors may have one), and we don't want to create a barrier. A deposit becomes a bit of a business office tangle. Interested to hear what other ideas are out there!

Subject: iPad check-out process
When I worked at the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, we had iPads available for checkout for hearing impaired visitors. We collected the visitor's (or guardian's) driver's license, and had them fill out a form with their contact information and acknowledgement of the iPad usage policies. When they returned the iPad to the front desk, their license was returned to them. Each iPad had a thick case and shoulder/neck strap, making them rather bulky. It seemed like this helped to remind the visitor to bring the iPad back to the desk before leaving.

We are considering allowing visitors to check out iPads from our front desk for use in an exhibit. For those who have attempted this, would you be willing to share recommendations for implementing a check-out procedure?
Thanks in advance! Please feel free to contact me off-list.
