Greetings Friends!
This may be a simple question for seasoned historic site specialists; but I am still learning this. My question is, how do you deal with security at a park or historic site when you have multiple buildings.
My situation:
The historic park I work at is an open county park but there are eight buildings on site that we give tours into. The buildings are only open by tour and locked otherwise. Of the eight, five of the buildings are original and the other three are replicas. Our visitor's center (that has the gift shop and offices/breakroom) has a security system that if triggered alerts authorities. But the other eight buildings (and one other that we use as storage) have what we call "sound makers." When the alarm is triggered, it only makes a noise and doesn't call police. I would like to upgrade to full security systems for all the buildings. I am not entirely worried about vandalism or break-ins; more focused on fire or floods.
Just wondering if other places do something different; other than just putting in a full security system. Any advice would be appreciated
