Social Impact Museums

The Silk Mill, today called the Museum of Making, is located in Derby, England, and sits on the site of the world's first factory. As part of a modernization and renovation initiative, the museum teamed up with the Happy Museum Project to launch Re:Make the Museum. This project engaged museum audiences to become co-producers and makers, co-designing and building the refurbished museum’s fixtures and fittings – a radical break with the usual sector approach of employing a designer and retaining control.
