Hello all,
Last year, I founded the California Aggregation for Gender Diversity, an organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Transgender, Genderqueer, Intersex, and Nonbinary communities worldwide. Our primary goal is to establish the first museum focused on TGIN+ history.
As a Museum Studies master's student, my coursework has been invaluable in shaping our policies, developing exhibition proposals, applying for grants, and laying the groundwork for this ambitious project. However, I am still relatively new to the museum field, and I recognize that many of you have years—if not decades—of experience and insight.
For those who have been involved in launching a museum or working with an institution in its earliest stages, I’d love to learn from your experiences. What do you wish you had known or done differently in those formative years? Any advice, big or small, would be incredibly helpful as we continue building this museum from the ground up.
Thank you in advance for your time and wisdom!
