Hello everyone,

       While I am familiar with museum work I am not as familiar with grants. I am the new director for a very small museum where I am the only full time paid employee. The museum has only been open since June. The previous director used up a huge portion of funding but never got the registrars office and collections management where it needs to be. I am currently working on developing a CM policy plus others. At the moment I need to find possible funding for the coming year, specifically for the collections management and digitization, which I am working into the management/accessioning process. I know about some offered through IMLS but if anyone can be of assistance, it would be appreciated. We are located in Maryland, it can be state or federal. Thanks in advance!

Katy, I don't know where you are in Maryland but you should contact your local heritage area if there is one. They usually have small grants, and can lead you to larger grants from the MD Heritage Area Authority. I am also in MD so if you want to chat, give me a call. Karen Stone 240-925-0293.

Hi Katy! My company offers a free grant guide for museums that you can find here. The current guide is for 2023 but should still have some useful information and we'll be updating it soon for 2024 grants. Good luck!
