Our museum in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is redoing one of our galleries and getting in new casework. We have 6 beautiful cherry wood cases that we need to get rid of this summer (from mid-June through mid-August), but we'd much rather re-home them than dispose of them. Would any of you be interested in these cases, or know any institutions that might be? We'd provide them free of charge, but ask that you handle the pickup/moving of the cases. Thanks!

Hi Jasmine,

Thank you for offering these to our community!

I'm the museum planning chairperson and vice president of the International Society of Antique Scale Collectors (https://isasc.org). We have a sizable collection in Pittsburgh, and we are in the process of opening for public tours as well as pursuing permanent public display space in the Pittsburgh area. These cases would be excellent for that purpose.

We have been donated fixtures from the National Park Service along with a large, glass bust of Thomas Jefferson. This has allowed us to lay out a major exhibit: Fairness, Justice, and Jefferson. (Most people don't know that Jefferson, as our first Secretary of State, was tasked with proposing a standard weights and measures system for the new USA).  The NPS donation did not include any display cases, so your set of cases would make a good fit.

I have already had a volunteer say, "We can pick them up."

Regards,

Greg Moss
