 De-Escalation Training

Hello, everyone.

The museum I work for would like to offer our staff and volunteers de-escalation training so they have the tools to (for lack of a better word) de-escalate a potentially heated conversation with a museum visitor. Does anyone have any recommendations for groups/organizations that offer de-escalation training?

Thank you!

I may have a resource I can point to, however, I won't be able to share it until next week when I am back in the office! Hope you get some others to chime in as well.

Dear Keith, the AASLH "Doing History in Polarized Times" virtual summit two weeks ago addressed this issue. You might find it worth registering to get access to the recording of the sessions. Someone shared this resource, which seemed particularly useful: https://www.museums.ab.ca/media/172311/brief_guide_de-escalation_strategies.pdf This is a topic I'm very interested in, so please feel free to keep in touch.
