  • 1.  Would your Museum Benefit from a DEIA Auditing tool?

    Posted 10-13-2023 07:05 PM

    Hi All!

The Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) is applying for grant support to initiate an exploratory and then systematize a full DEI+A Audit. This Audit seeks to address the challenge of ensuring equitable representation within the museum's collection by creating a metadata framework tool that is useful for other museums. Would this research + subsequent tool, be of use to your work? Please respond, so we can recognize, acknowledge and capture this support in our grant? Thank you!

Yes, I'd be interested! I work for Artwork Archive and we've been encouraging our clients to track this data in their Artwork Archive database – particularly in the Artist profiles – so that they can see and report on their representation in efforts to make it more equitable.

I actually have one client that uses us (Artwork Archive) to identify gaps and then acquire new works that better reflect their community/student body.

They'll present as well as other Artwork Archive institutions in a Balboa Park Online Collaborative webinar in late November about creating more inclusive collections. We'll post when it's ready to share!

    Happy to chat!

Hi Alyssa! I'm a student and am working on a related project for my thesis. I'd love to learn more about the process and the final product.
