What surprised you most about museum work?  I think there are some obvious things about museum work like answering visitors questions. I am wondering what was not. I look forward to the responses.

The varying duties I will be doing each day. On paper, my main duties are typical for a curator. But I work at a small museum so the same day I am cataloguing a recent donation, I am probably also giving tours, cleaning bathrooms/museum, manning the gift shop, painting, etc.
