    Dear All

What is a good medical history museum you have been too or worked at? I did an internship at one and wonder what other medical history museums are out there.

    Thanks,

    Rachel

Since I’d previously mentioned the Mutter in Philly, I’ll take this opportunity to suggest the Hunterian Museum at the Royal College Surgeons in London.

If you happen to get to that part of inner London, you wouldn’t want to mis the Sir John Soane's Museum: not medical, but an amazing “immersive experience”…before that was “a thing”.

Hello all! the Pharmacy Museum in New Orleans is a great spot. They have an amazing docent named Owen Ever and an extensive collection of medical artifacts, located in a historic pharmacy building. Enjoy!

The National Museum of Health and Medicine in Silver Spring, MD has an amazing specimen collection on display, if that's what you are interested in. Modern museum with Victorian-esque jars of appendages and organs dating back ages. The highlight was a display of materials collected from the doctors who operated on Lincoln. The smell of formaldehyde will put off any visitor eventually.

I’ve found that the medical profession has an affinity for museums. Radiologists, for example, extol the virtues of their field in these two institutions, one in New Mexico and another in Buffalo, NY.

The Pharmacy Museum at the University of Basel was fascinating! I went with family and wasn't that enthusiastic about going but I'm delighted to say I was so wrong. I learned a ton and gained a deeper appreciation for pharmaceutical science.  https://www.museenbasel.ch/en/museen/pharmaziemuseum-der-universitaet-basel

Please share any you have here - I am a member of the American Association for the History of Nursing and generating a master list of medical museums for our website.  I appreciate your input.  I do serve as trustee for the Florence Nightingale Museum in London.   I am interested in museums in all areas of the world.

    Thanks for your input.
