Volunteer Opportunity - Anti-LGBTQ+ Backlash Response Guidelines

Hello all! My name is Tony Pankuch (they/them), and for the past two years I've served as Co-Chair of AAM's LGBTQ+ Alliance Transgender Inclusion Committee. Along with my Co-Chair Samantha Eisenberg, I led the development of the recently released Interpreting Transgender Stories resource.

As you're probably aware, the United States has recently seen an uptick in protests and threats of violence against LGBTQ+ representation, including pride festivals, drag storytelling, and various cultural events. In an effort to address this, Samantha and I recently submitted a new resource proposal to the AAM. We're organizing a team of volunteers to create a digital guide to addressing and responding to anti-LGBTQ+ backlash at museums and cultural institutions. This guide will include experiences and insights from institutions that have dealt with anti-LGBTQ+ backlash, as well as recommendations and best practices from multidisciplinary literature.

We've begun initial work on this project over the past month, but are looking for more volunteers to assist as we work through the initial research and literature review phase. If you're interested in volunteering, please fill out this brief Google Form, and feel free to share it with your colleagues.

I'm happy to answer any questions, either here or via email at pankuch@uakron.edu
