Hello Avi! I have actually spent quite a bit of time theorizing about this very thing! Which is why when I started applying IRCODE's technology to the museum space, I created avenues to capture empirical data on what comes next after a scan (essentially a photo). So far, the top uses are a desire for a deeper dive into a topic later, looking for art or objects that are similar for purchase (which is a great opportunity for museum gift shops) and connecting/posting with social media.
I would be delighted to discuss with you or anyone else further! We are currently looking for case study partners.
My best,
andie

Subject: The uses of iphone photos taken in museums
I have observed a great many visitors taking photos in museums and am curious as to how they use those images after leaving the museum. Lots of speculation, but no data!
Does anyone know of an empirical study or survey that would shed light on what visitors do with the images they produce on their iphones? Thanks for any suggestions or citations. Best to all.
