The Royal Alberta Museum has begun a research project investigating the role of Edmonton as a centre for the Western operations of Revillon Freres in Canada between 1898-1927. We are looking for material culture (artifacts) related to the company and it's operations in the Canadian North. In particular, we want to know if there are any surviving garments from this period in member museums (c. 1903-1926). We are aware of the items held at the Costume Institute, but wondered if there are more out there. We are also in search of the Song of Hiawatha silver watch fob produced by the company in the early 20th century as a collectors item for trappers. Any other Revillon-branded material from the period, especially mentioning Alberta trading posts, is of interest. If you know of something like this, please contact julia.petrov@gov.ab.ca
