    Dear All,

    I hope this message finds you well!

    OUr college gallery is up for External Review and my supervisor asked me to look into potential Committees-for-Hire in the Museum world.

    Are you familiar or even part of this kind of service? If so, could you please offer recommendations?

    There are several grant programs that could fit this need - the Museum Assessment Program from American Alliance of Museums is the first one that comes to mind. https://www.aam-us.org/programs/accreditation-excellence-programs/museum-assessment-program-map/

    You can also contract with an external consultant independently for this review.

    Sadly, because MAP is funded by IMLS, the program is on hold. There has been an option for a museum to just pay for an assessment. I suspect they are not keeping that avenue open for the few to elect to go that route.

    But perhaps AAM staff can suggest some reviewers experienced with college art museums. And maybe share the workbook and report checklists?

    Hi everyone! Laura is correct - MAP is funded through a cooperative agreement with IMLS. We have not received funding for FY 25, so we were unable to host a cohort this year. We are and will continue to offer the fee-for-service MAP option. If you are interested in this or other self-assessment resources, please reach out to the MAP team at map@aam-us.org.
