  • 1.  Post- Program Survey Question Advice Needed

    Posted 07-13-2022 03:07 PM
Hi everyone! I'm interested in hearing about the kinds of questions one might ask in a visitor or program attendee survey that might be sent or given as a follow-up to a program such as an art lecture or workshop with the goal in mind to supply the NEA with information regarding the success of the program. I would be grateful to receive any sample surveys you've provided your attendees, either within this thread, or by email to me at olivia@sfcamerawork.org. I would also be interested in simple survey platforms that we might use on a static ipad in-gallery.

Thanks in advance for any samples you can share!

    Olivia,
Attached is a sample survey we have used for public programs. The questions are dictated by some things we want to know related to marketing, demographics, and engagement. A series of questions are in direct alignment with outcomes we discuss in a variety of grant applications so that when we have to create reports we are addressing the requirements of that agency, whether local, state or federal. In our case we focus on relevancy, inclusion, engagement, and accessibility for grant reporting purposes. Other questions serve internal needs of the museum.

The kinds of questions I find the most valuable are this sort:

Before I saw this exhibit/attended this program, I did not realize…
As a result of seeing this exhibit/attending this program, I will…
This exhibit/program made me think about…
Questions this exhibit/program brought up for me are....

You can also ask specific content/objective oriented questions:
One thing I learned in this exhibit/program is....
One action I will do as a result of this program/exhibit is...
My understanding of XXX increased/deepened or stayed the same

Think about your exhibit/program messages and goals and form questions to see if they were met for the visitors/attendees.
