Sustainability Jenga with the Anchorage Museum 

Join Erin Marbarger for a presentation that examines the Anchorage Museum's evolving sustainability journey and how the Museum team is integrating sustainable practices into daily operations. The presentation will highlight the flexible decision-making required: just as in Jenga,  sometimes it's wiser to leave one piece untouched and focus on another that can be shifted more effectively. Erin will discuss three core areas: public engagement, internal processes such as carbon audits and green teams, and sustainable funding; demonstrating how these interconnected pieces support the museum's response to the multifaceted challenges of climate change in cultural institutions.

Erin R. Marbarger is the Senior Education Director/Director, Climate and Sustainability at the Anchorage Museum. She works with the education team to provide equitable access through relationship building and educational opportunities to the museum's resources and community. Erin develops and leads the Museum's climate change curriculum, which supports conversations that cultivate vision and action toward the current climate crisis and a future beyond. She is also helping lead the Museum's more extensive sustainability goals and initiatives to reduce carbon footprint while supporting our communities in the same. Erin has over a decade of experience in informal education and holds a master's in environmental science with an emphasis in environmental education.
