  • 1.  Permanent Museum Closures account COVID

    Posted 03-22-2023 12:57 PM
I am a graduate student writing the History of the Houston Maritime Museum.
COVID caused the museum to be closed for some time.
With little revenue and problems with the building, Houston Maritime Museum Board of
    Trustees seriously considered permanent closure.
Fortunately, they found a way for the museum to keep open and they will be moving to a new building with more space for exhibits soon.

Does anyone know of museums who succumbed to COVID?

    Thanks,

    Hello Peter,

Adam Rozan from the National Museum of American History started a crowdsourced Google spreadsheet tracking museum closures, and causes, a few years back. You may find some useful examples there. (And I encourage you to enter any examples you have found that are not already logged on the sheet.)
