    Hi everyone,
We have outdoor sculpture on display and need to add some signage with tombstone information and "please don't touch"-type phrasing. Can anyone recommend a vendor or ideas for finding this type of thing? Many options we can find online are a little too flimsy for our needs. One needs to mount into concrete and the rest need to go into grass.
    Thank you!

Hi, Ashley -  I would get proposals and bids from several sign companies in your area.  We did the same thing in a New England city on a high school campus (!) and where the weather could be unpredictable.  The material used for the actual tombstone was a laminate that was impervious to everything.  The stanchions were aluminum mounted onto and into buried concrete (below a grass "surface").  This was about 12 years ago and is still in great shape.  There may be even more durable materials today.  Good luck.  Vivian

    Hello, Ashley -

HPL (high pressure laminate) would be an ideal choice for outdoor durability/longevity.  There are a number of sign/graphics companies that offer HPL printing. I've used Fossil Graphics in the past and was pleased with their communication during the design process and with the final product.

         Cheers,

    Hi Ashley,
I recommend asking the Como Park Zoo what vendor they use for outside signage. You could also get in touch with Fossil Graphics (in New York) or iZone in Texas.
    Good luck!

    Hi Ashley,

A public park near me uses a product called ChromaLuxe. These signs stand up to weather very well, though you would still need a structure to mount to for those in grass.

    Best of luck!

Brass is very hard wearing. You can get multiple finishes as well, it doesn't have to be that yellowish brown. It would even be white and grey. Call a foundry and they can give you a quote.

    Hi Ashley,

If you're just looking for tombstone information, I recommend using sources that supply the botanic garden industry. Here's one of my favorite vendors: https://myplantlabel.com/

Custom high-pressure laminate signs (as others have suggested) are a great way to go if you are creating traditional outdoor interpretive signs. They are low-cost and tend to last at least ten years. More if they are not getting a ton of direct sunlight. We've been able to clean graffiti off of them, too. I've had panels in the field for 15+ now, and they look great. Ultimately, they are the lowest cost to print and replace (when we want to change the interpretation) and tend to be the go-to standard. They can be printed in any size or shape, with many thickness options. You have different options for mounting them to the aluminum base (direct to concrete or in-ground). The companies already mentioned are excellent to work with: Fossil and iZone, and I'd add Envirosigns to the list. You'll ask for estimates once you figure out how many you need, which can help you choose your company. Any of those companies will help you figure out a plan for your project to ensure it looks great!
