Hello, I am Nancy Wynstra-Cope, a student in the Master of Arts in Museology department at the University of Washington with an interest in collections care and making museum collections more accessible.

My master's thesis research is exploring the extent to which museum professionals working in natural history museums with paleontology collections are engaging with Indigenous communities, as well as the barriers and factors that influence engagement. For this study, I am interested in recruiting participants with a variety of perspectives working within different domains of museum work, such as education, exhibits, collections, programs, etc., to get a broad view of community engagement in museums with paleontology collections and exhibits.

I am inviting museum professionals to participate in a 10-minute survey about their professional experiences. If you have any colleagues whose experiences are applicable for this study, please forward this survey to them. The results of this study will be published in the UW Museology Graduate Program Journal MuseumsForward.

Indigenous engagement in museum paleontology is currently understudied, and through this research, I hope to provide information to the museum field about what working with communities looks like. This survey is voluntary and while names will be collected to ensure there are no repeat results, the results will be anonymous. I hope you will choose to participate!
