    Hello All,

    I am looking to gather information on your Museum Store Discounts. Do you offer discounts to your employee? If so, what is the percentage?

    We do a 30% discount for employees for things in the store.

    Our store is run by an outside contractor. There is no discount for staff or volunteers. 

    When we ran it in-house only volunteers got a discount and it was 15%.

    My firm is a food service and retail consultancy that has worked with 300+ museums nationwide. The large majority of museums do offer discounts to employees, volunteers and members. As an fyi these discounts usually apply to retail and food service. Discounts are typically 10% - 20%. These discounts can be negotiated with a contractor although discounted sales are not commissionable.

    We offer employees and volunteers a 20% discount in the stores and cafes.  We offer members a 10% discount.

    We have a 40% discount for staff on clothing items and 20% discount on everything else.
    Staff loves it because it means we have a LOT of branded shirts walking around in town LOL.

    Our gift shop is also run by a contractor (Hudson News).  They offer our staff and volunteers a 20% discount.  During the weeks leading up to Christmas, the discount usually  increases to 30%.

    We offer a 15% discount to all Tribal employees, Museum members and Tribal members. Pre-Covid I was also offering a quarterly One Time Only 25% discount on all items purchased within one transaction.

    The Store at the Memorial Art Gallery offers a 15% discount for employees and volunteers who reach a set "# of hours work" threshold. MAG active members receive a 10% discount as part of their member benefit.  Once a year in November, The Store offers an additional +5% on one item for anyone who currently receives a store discount.  Many of us look forward to our November discount!​
