  • 1.  Museum Membership Packets

    Hi everyone! 

    I'm curious to reach out and see what other institutions are doing for their membership packets. At my current institution, we only really include membership cards and parking vouchers (parking is a member benefit with us), but I am thinking of including more and treating it as a membership welcome packet with more information and/or inserts. Of course this may cause more manual work for my team to include more things in the process (we don't do digital membership cards just yet; our member base demographically skews older). Do you all include additional membership/museum materials in your membership packets?

    Daniel,

    When we send out membership cards we include a paper that lists their benefits and the locations of their reciprocal memberships. We also include information about current programming and the dates of our exhibitions. For patron level members (those who donate $150 or more while renewing) we have coupons for the store or complimentary membership vouchers that they can send to friends/family.

    New members get their card which is a perforated section of the letter that lists their benefits. We have some Museum Member stickers that we throw in and since we only publish our member newsletter every 6 months, we throw in a calendar which is one or two more sheets of paper.  We can still mail it at letter rate for that.

Do you do your own packaging and mailing in-house?
