  • 1.  Mounting and Crating for Fossils

    Posted 11-16-2023 02:08 PM
    Hi everyone,
Does anyone have experience creating mounts and crates for fossils? Or can recommend someone who does? I am working on a traveling exhibition of fossils and have questions on mounting and crating and would love to chat through them with someone. My main goal is simplifying the mounts. I don't want to have to take every single fossil bone off of every individual mount at each installation and deinstallation. I want to find a balance that will protect the fossil from vibrations during shipping and wear/tear from handling.
Ultimately, I am looking for a mountmaker and crate fabricator as well, so I'm grateful for recommendations also.
    Thank you!

    Hi Christina,

My company has been making mounts and crates since 1985. Here is an example of our crate production. Since all our crates are custom made we can accommodate any requirements. Some examples of our mounts are here and also here. Our Brooch style mounts are fitting for the dinosaur fossils you mentioned.

I encourage you to browse our FaceBook page and YouTube channel for many more examples. I am happy to talk with you at any time about your needs.

    Best regards,
