I am part of a very small, local museum in far western Kentucky that showcases our local town history and its people, a town of about 500 people. We are currently working on adding a room over the military members of our community and their stories. We are wanting to have recordings of stories from those who were in the military or from their families, and want to have these easily accessible for visitors to listen to. The best comparison to what we are thinking is like the JFK museum in Dallas, the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, had pre-COVID where you could listen to individuals talking about their experiences with JFK and how his beliefs affected his campaign. We are hoping for something like this that allows visitors to interact with each exhibit at their own pace and get as in depth as they would like.
I have talked with the IT person in Dallas about what they used and he told me the company is out of business from COVID and they are currently working on something else to do since the hassle of keeping the pieces charged and ready for the next visitors was challenging. He said to look into the AAM (which I had never heard of before) so here I am asking for any help that you can offer.

Thanks in advance and please know we in Fancy Farm, KY appreciate your assistance.

Hi, Morgan - I'm not sure whether your question relates to software, hardware or methodology, but as for hardware, I'd recommend that you look to something that leads your visitors to a downloadable app or podcast-like amenity.  People are still reluctant to use  shared devices and in this way, the charging and sanitation issues are not your challenge.

You have many options depending on your specific needs. I'd be happy to talk you through possibilities from dead simple near $0 options to fancy dancy.

    Hello!
We have our augmented materials up on what is basically a small website. In the Museum's spaces we have Qr codes that visitors can scan to go to a specific part of the website featuring one object or space to find out more. We include some videos and oral histories.  In a few months we will be moving over to the Bloomberg Connects site, but for now here it is: https://maps.intrepidmuseum.org/

    Hi Morgan,

Others have shared great options since you posted your query. But if you're still interested, I'd be happy to discuss more details of different ways The Sixth Floor Museum makes our oral history collection available to the public. It sounds like what you're wanting to do is more of a hybrid of the audio guide we used to have to our core exhibition (which is what you discussed with another staff member), plus sharing oral history interviews. Please feel free to contact me!
