    Museum Funding Today

What the hell is happening to the funding landscape? We are in a moment of seismic change, as federal grant programs are decimated, entire areas of work are blacklisted, and new research priorities like AI take center stage. In this presentation we offer an inside look at the funding landscape, drawing on our experiences as former federal grantmakers and as partners with private philanthropies. We'll discuss changes to funding priorities and to the process of seeking and sustaining funding, and offer steps you can take now to prepare your organization to thrive amid uncertainty and change.

Sidra Collaborative is Hannah Alpert-Abrams, Lola Clairmont, Hadassah St. Hubert, and Martin Tsang. We bring a combined 65 years of interdisciplinary experience in museums, libraries, higher education, and grantmaking. While working at the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), we recognized the need for transformative thinking about how we fund cultural organizations and support their work. Today, we partner with arts, culture, and humanities organizations and funders to build sustainable programs and reimagine a funding landscape that centers transparency, equity, and community.

This sounds like a powerful conversation. As I'm traveling, I'll have to watch the recording. I'm curious to know more about a specific question. If you're a museum tackling what may be seen as controversial in this climate, one f those blacklisted areas of interest, how do you find philanthropists who support you? My perception is that so many of the elite class are in line with blacklisting these subjects.
