  • 1.  In-Gallery Survey with Live Results Software Recommendations

    Posted 01-28-2026 12:54 PM

Hello! My museum is considering having an in-gallery survey as part of our upcoming exhibit where visitor vote on some of their favorite stories. We would like visitors to be able to see the live results after they post their responses to see how they compare. I have found lots of survey tools that allow this for slideshow presentations, but none that seem designed for a kiosk. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience developing this type of interactive?

Some additional information: We have touchscreens and regularly use Brightsigns/BrightAuthor to deploy digital interactives. I'm still fairly new to Brightsign players, but believe that we can link to a webpage to deploy the survey to the touchscreen once we find a software or program we like.

    Thanks,

    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,

I have been using Brightsigns for a few years and I've always wanted to do something like this. I have had several different ideas for how it could be used but have never actually ended up deploying any.

My first gut reaction is that I am pretty sure you don't strictly need a touchscreen nor would you need any program or software outside of BrightAuthor or BA Connected. Even with a bottom shelf model like an LS, you can get a button board, finagle a usb connection, and put together button trigger events. Then with some more finagling you can get it to log user events for each button press. Those can be exported and tallied. Of course, with most other models you could use GPIO or touchscreen for that.

A different option would be creating just a regular type of a survey on your website or whatever and then setting up button zones that would "click" those buttons. I think.

I enjoy "playing" with our Brightsigns as a "break" from other work, so feel free to email me to pick my brain. I find it fascinating.
