Dear Rita
I love that story and think it shows how people can change but also that people need social interaction at any age. We as museum people should encourage this. Thanks for sharing.

Last summer I had the opportunity to interview a number of older visitors to a large art museum located in the mid west - a museum with free admission. One person I interviewed discovered the museum after she retired and was looking for something to do. She visits the museum often (almost daily!), has coffee in the coffee shop, and just spends much of the day being around people and the art. She was not a "museum person" before this, and it has become almost a lifeline for her. It struck me how complex the role of museums can be, and how we can fill critical needs in people's lives beyond the stated mission.

Dear All
I have been thinking about something that can be seen as nuisance but can be a good thing. When I was doing my internship at the Museum of the Eye, there is guy who comes into the museum frequently. I found that he was chatty but nice and interested in what is in the museum. I think he liked to spend time in the museum and because it's free no worry about money. I am wondering any one else has had that experience ? I look forward to the stories and in sight.
Thanks,
Rachel
