Free NISE Network Online Workshops: Library Collaborations (May 19) and America at 250 - Just in time resources (June 9)
Upcoming free professional learning one-hour online workshops:
Library Collaborations to Engage Local Public Audiences
Libraries are wonderful venues for reaching new audiences, as they are community hubs that are free and open to all. During this online workshop we will learn all about the Space Science Institute's (SSI) NASA @ My Library program and the STAR (Science-Technology Activities and Resources) Library Network (STAR net) and how museums can partner with libraries from across the US to strengthen their community engagement. The workshop will include resources and approaches to building relationships with libraries in your community. We will also hear first hand from libraries and museums who have had successful partnerships using these materials and strategies to deepen community engagement.
America at 250 - Just in time resources you can use at science centers and children's museums
Join us as we host colleagues who will guide us through some of the resources they've created and made available to help museums celebrate American 250 - the United States Semiquincentennial. NISE Network staff will provide a brief overview of the many resources available. Then we will hear from Frost Science about their "America250: Celebrating American Innovation" freely available ready-to-use poster exhibits, planetarium show, and more that explore the stories of innovators who contributed to American ingenuity. We will also hear from History Colorado about their "Moments That Made US" freely available, ready-to-use and customizable exhibition panels. Whether you are already planning big events or are looking for simple ways to celebrate America's birthday with your audiences, join us for ideas and resources at the ready to commemorate this national event.
