I would recommend volunteering time in curatorial or archive departments, depending on how much extra time you have. A few hours a week will help build relationships with people whose careers you are interested in. Attending staff events or arranging informal meetings with curators/archivists to ask about their careers is also great for understanding how pathways to museum careers are so varied. Get to know people, be interested in listening/learning, and aim to build mentor relationships. Say yes to offers that align with your own goals. Best of luck!
