  • 1.  Exploring practical AI use cases: upcoming peer showcase on conversational insight

    Posted 24 days ago

    Hi everyone,

I'm sharing an upcoming online conversation that may be of interest to those exploring how museums are beginning to use AI in practical, day to day ways with conversational insight (AI connected to data).

Several cultural institutions and commercial attractions including New England Aquarium and Monopoly Dreams will be discussing their early experiences and how they're applying this type of AI to support forecasting and operational planning, visitor experience and organisational workflows. The focus will be on real use cases, lessons learned and emerging practices rather than technology itself.

Thursday, December 4 (4 PM ET / 1 PM PT)
    https://dexibit.com/ask-showcase/

    Topics include how teams:
    • Combine operational data and visitor feedback to inform decisions
    • Use AI for summarizing insights, scenario planning and reporting
    • Navigate organisational readiness and build staff confidence
    • Approach governance and data ethics as AI adoption grows

If you're curious about how peers are experimenting with these approaches or considering what AI literacy looks like in museum practice this session may offer some useful perspectives.

Happy to answer questions or share notes afterward for anyone who can't attend - feel welcome to reach out.

    Best,
    Angie

This looks like a great discussion @Angie Judge. Even in the world I'm in - marketing, communications, sales, PR, etc. - AI adoption is hit or miss. Some folks love it and embrace it, others want to go back to pen & paper. But so many of us are somewhere in the middle. Events like this help us find our own middle ground. Love it!

I'm curious - how do you use AI in your everyday life? Personal or professional?

Hi Daniel, we're seeing the same thing in our conversational insight product, Ask @ Dexibit. Everyone's on their own journey - some have a lot of questions and are in it all day, others are just experimenting, some haven't started yet. Some are very strategic, some purely operational - and that's not necessarily role dependent. For me, it's become fairly embedded all day, every day - and not just for working with data in Dexibit, but also at work how we create product, support customers, etc, which allows us to achieve more and more scale and build on our creative vision. Personally, I use it to help with health management, parenting tips, cooking, holiday planning, etc.

Great examples in personal use @Angie Judge. Similar here. I used AI for deep research on two major purchases in the past year - a new vehicle and an upcoming lawnmower purchase! A good way to converse and not just "Google it." Plus it seems like we're all using it without knowing sometimes. Hopefully that helps ease folks into a bit who don't think they use it.

Hi Angie, thank you for sharing this. I am sorry that I missed the discussion, as the topic aligns closely with what I am exploring right now: blending cultural heritage management and data science, with a focus on how museums/institutions can use analytics, statistical modeling, and emerging AI tools to support operational planning, space forecasting, and evidence-based decision making.

My background is in objects conservation, but I recently completed a graduate degree in quantitative management at Duke and have been developing analytics-forward tools for museums, including volumetric and space-use models as well as exploring Bayesian approaches to collections and operational questions. I am very interested in how teams are beginning to use conversational AI for insight generation and scenario planning. I am also interested in creating better surveys that both ask the right questions and also consider how data analytics can best utilize the results on the other end.

If you have notes or takeaways from the session, I would be grateful to read them. I am also happy to connect with others who are thinking about AI literacy, governance, and practical decision support in museum environments.

Thank you again for putting this conversation into the field.

    Best,

    Jane
