I will just say that I don't think the AAMD salary guide reflects the complexity and scope of collections work well at all and would encourage people not to use the AAMD guide, unless it's in the context of, "Look at how much this one sentence position description makes, and my person does so much more than that!"

Have you seen AAMD's salary survey? It breaks down salaries by region, size, job function, etc. the only downside is that, for some job functions, the number of respondents can be low. But at least it's something to go on.
I compared AAM's 2017 salary survey (the last they produced) and AAMD's 2017 survey and found that my job was 2% lower in AAMD's survey. AAM's survey has a much higher number of respondents (10X in my case). So I tend to believe it's more accurate.
Now all that said, AAM's does not have as many breakdowns in terms of museum budget size, they just have $3M+, whereas AAMD's is more granular in that area. Sooooooo, hopefully all that helps?
