  • 1.  Exhibition Display Panels

I am an architect working on a regional museum.  They are interested in recommendations on movable exhibition display panels.  I've worked on a number of museums and every other institution has leaded towards building custom display walls (to be changed over several years) rather than a product.  Their feedback on display panels is lack of stability, challenges with patching the panel face and ultimately does not provide the needed flexibility.  I'd appreciate feedback / suggested related to good experiences with display panels.

The Design Minds specified a frame and panel system that worked nicely for the Museum of Historic Annapolis, though I was skeptical at first. Because this was a historic building, they needed to minimize contact with the walls while maximizing visitor space. The framework is supporting several large monitors and seems sufficiently stable to me. It is not "moveable" like a folding panel, but is flexible and can be reconfigured in that it can be disassembled and reconfigured.  I do not know the brand/style used but if you call TDM (703-246-9241) and ask about Historic Annapolis, they should be able to provide details. BTW I highly recommend The Design Minds for any exhibit design. And if you want to ask Historic Annapolis about their experience, I suggest contacting Robin Gower at robin.gower@annapolis.org
