Does anyone have an email preservation policy for their organization that they could share?  More of a who/what/how long policy than a how-to policy.

    Thanks,

    Greg

The policy of the State of Texas is that email falls into the same set of rules as any other government or university records. Those records retention policies are detailed:

    https://records.utexas.edu/utrrs

    also:

    https://www.tsl.texas.gov/slrm/state/schedules

So, the retention period would depend upon the content of the email, there is no blanket for all e-mail.

    Sincerely,

    Chris

Thank you, James.  Our records schedule doesn't mention emails, so I'm curious how other organizations are doing it.

I should add that I'm particularly interested in how museums manage their email.  Do you collect all email?  Just department heads?  Areas such as donors, loans, conservation, etc?
