  • 1.  Celebrating an anniversary

    Posted 11-25-2023 05:15 PM

Our museum will be celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2024, and while we have several ideas of what to do to mark this milestone, we'd love to hear about ways that other museums have celebrated anniversary dates -- from social media campaigns to fundraising inititatives to special events.

    Thank you!

    Hi Rene,

The Museum at FIT celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019. We celebrated in a number of ways to mark the occasion.
    • We organized an exhibition, called Exhibitionism, that featured our history of ground-breaking fashion exhibitions and publications, as well as our commitment to collecting.
    • We organized a fashion symposium, Exhibiting Fashion, to explore the museum landscape of collecting
    • We created a special About the Museum video
    • We created a two-part podcast that explored our two galleries and how we approach curating exhibitions in the two spaces.
    • We created a special logo that acknowledged our anniversary, changing the color to gold and adding additional text.
    • We used the special logo and special text in our communications throughout the year.
Perhaps this is helpful. Feel free to reach out if you have any specific questions!
