Hello everyone, 

I was recently terminated from a museum technician position in Cultural Resources within the National Park Service. I have several museum tech positions under my belt at this point, and given the current volatility of federal employment, I am trying to transition into curatorial work in private museums. 

I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to accomplish this. Job searching is even more frustrating than usual knowing I can no longer rely on federal employment, as I once thought. For additional context, I have a Master's degree in Museum Studies and my skillset is collections management, digital archiving, cataloguing and curatorial work.

Hi Erik, 

So sorry to hear you lost your NPS position. I suggest you look for a museum job in the following places:

• LinkedIn (there are a lot of posts there, as well as Alli Schell who gathers all Museum Job listings in a weekly post - look her up)
• Job boards from the various professional organizations (AAM, AASLH, MAAM, AAAM, etc)
• I see you're in NY - MANY.org has a job board, or look in other states for their museum organization and postings
• Check your degree program's (NYU) job board

It may take some time, but keep the faith. There *is* a job out there for you.
