On behalf of the organizing institutions, I'm pleased to share a call for proposals for an important upcoming conference at the intersection of artificial intelligence and cultural heritage. The AI4LAM (Artificial Intelligence for Libraries, Archives, and Museums) community will gather in Washington, DC this fall for a timely exploration of how our institutions navigate AI adoption while maintaining the trust that is fundamental to our work.
The Library of Congress, National Gallery of Art, and Smithsonian Institution are pleased to share more about the upcoming 2026 AI4LAM Fantastic Futures event. The theme for the conference is Trust in the Loop. Trust has long been central to the work of libraries, archives, and museums. Trust in the Loop invites the AI4LAM community to explore how trust is challenged and supported as LAMs implement and are impacted by AI technologies.

The 2026 AI4LAM Fantastic Futures: Trust in the Loop conference will take place September 15–17, 2026 in Washington, DC with programming shaped by the AI4LAM community and AI4LAM Board of Directors.

Details about the call for proposals, topics, and timeline are available on the AI4LAM website. Submissions from across the global LAM community, including non–AI4LAM members are welcome. The deadline for submitting a proposal is April 6, 2026.
