The California State Library is seeking staff, volunteers, and board members at cultural heritage preservation organizations in California to participate in The Cultural Heritage Preservation Landscape Analysis Survey  CSL wants to know more about how YOU as a cultural heritage steward feel about your organization and your work and how that work fits into your larger community.  We're looking for respondents:

    • from all 58 counties (we're looking at you, too Alpine and Sierra!).

    • of different types like archives, history museums, historical societies, art museums, and cultural centers.

    • affiliated with all levels of government – Tribal, Federal, State, county, and local.

    • operated entirely by volunteers

    • and those with lots of staff.

    • with budgets under $50,000 and over $100,000,000.

    • that are entirely virtual and those with multiple brick-and-mortar locations.

Make sure your voice is heard!

    Thank you for participating!

    More about this project:

One of the California State Library's (CSL) priorities is to help identify, protect, preserve, and provide equitable access to the collections and stories you steward. We want to help you build community resilience, especially for communities that may be historically under-represented or under-served.

Using funds available through the Library Services and Technology Act, CSL and Pacific Library Partnership have engaged Myriad Consultants and Frank+Glory to conduct a Cultural Heritage Landscape Analysis for California this summer. The project includes review of work completed to date, like the Collection Protection Survey, California Cultural Collections Protection Survey Report, interactive database, California Cultural Heritage Preservation Assessment Report and new qualitative and quantitative research to learn more about supports and barriers to cultural heritage preservation at the local level.
