Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with allowing Crayola color sticks (woodless colored pencils) into the galleries?  My network seems to have conflicting opinions, so I wanted to open this topic up to a larger community. Any advice/feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Currently we have an interactive space nearby, but not within an exhibition. The space has a drawing station with colored pencils. Those pencils found their way into the main space, 70+ feet away from the interactive, and our gallery walls were decorated with said pencils. No question about it, the color sticks will end up on your walls.

I guess the risk depends on what type of objects you're displaying and how protected they are.

Hello Kelly,
 We use colored pencils and golf pencils in our gallery currently. We have used crayons and even markers in the past, but those both can be messy. We have both colored pencils and golf pencils at coloring stations throughout the gallery and in our education center. We haven't had issues with people using them inappropriately in the gallery, but they have colored on our mural in the education center.

I find that the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser takes care of any errant marks though.
