Dear Friends,
When the pandemic hit America in March 2020, we began reflecting on public history and museums as a class of institution. Over the subsequent three years, we jointly wrote 15 blogs, five "History in Progress" columns for History News, and a manifesto on adapting to novelty. With the kind permission of AASLH and MAAM, we have compiled our writings in a "Journal of the Plague Years."
We are happy to share with you a digital version of our compendium in the hope that it will prompt ongoing reflection on the practice of public history and the structuring of museums. Please feel free to respond to us directly by email, to quote or cite our texts, and to refine the arguments we have made over the past three years. Many thanks for your kind attention and all good wishes for your ongoing work in advancing the field.
