My museum is looking to implement a staff volunteer program and we are reaching out to other museums to get an idea of how volunteering is handled at your institution. We are currently looking into the possibility of having paid volunteer hours.
So my questions for you are:
Do you have a staff volunteer program at your institution?
If so, how is it implemented? Do you have paid time off for volunteer hours?
How long has this policy been in place?
What percentage of volunteer hours are used by staff each year? How is this tracked?
And finally, how do you determine what is a qualifying organization to volunteer for?
I realize that is a lot to ask for, and many of you may not actually have answers, so any insight you can provide would be welcome! Your time is greatly appreciated.
