Dear Melissa,
We have been experimenting at our museum and there are cash registers that can collect zip code data but with our budget, we ended up using a Google Form on an iPad that is managed by our receptionist. We only ask people for their zip code (because we just can't bombard them with too many questions). Our receptionist also notes if they are an adult or under 17. We also gather information on if they are with a group or have special tickets, and information about if they are a school group, or attending one of our special events.
This all feeds into a Google spreadsheet and we are analyzing it at the end of each month. We are working with our IT group to see if we can automate this end of month report process.
We've been in the beta phase here for a little over a month and we have been fine tuning it.
If you would like to know more, please feel free to give me a call at 503-370-6867 and I can share more details.
Best of luck,
Andrea Foust

Curious what data you collect on your constituents prior to entry. Are you asking for email, zip code, interests, etc? And are you storing it in your POS system? CRM? excel?
Particular interest in hearing from natural history, science centers, aquariums, and planetariums. Many thanks for your input!
