  • 1.  Where Can I Find Good Continuing Education Programs?

    Posted 01-29-2020 12:18 PM
My current position comes with a stipend set aside for education and training. My degrees are in Archaeology, not Museum Studies, so I was hoping to use these funds to take classes in skills such as collections management and object conservation. I've seen some classes that look promising on the AASLH website, but I wanted to see what options were out there. Can anyone recommend some good classes, seminars, or certificate programs?

The Center for Collection Care at Beloit College (Wisconsin). I worked at the Logan Museum at Beloit for 10 years so I know the facilities, the director of the museum, and the program well. There is no better anthro collections manager on the planet than the Center's director. Easy to get to from Chicago's OHare Airport (the bus goes right to Beloit).

Check out the Northern States Conservation Center, located in southeast Minnesota.  Many collections-based courses offered online.  Other useful resources there as well.  https://museumclasses.org/
