We are having issues with donors who wish to pay for memberships utilizing foundation money or donor directed funds.  How do you all address these situations?

It happens from time to time for us too. I generally treat it the same as if the funds came from an individual--make the taxable component known in an acknowledgment letter and leave it at that. Its up to the foundation to ensure they report it correctly.

We allow this as well, even for memberships. However, pay close attention to the fine print. I had two members waive any goods or services, i.e. guest pass, in return for 100% tax deductible as dictated by the donor directed fund.
