For most of us, .art domains are not going to be valuable. See this
discussion from MCN-L for more:
mcn-l@mcn.edu/msg10722.html">https://www.mail-archive.com/
mcn-l@mcn.edu/msg10722.html
(follow the links to more of the thread at the bottom).
There's also this thread,
mcn-l@mcn.edu/msg10750.html">https://www.mail-archive.com/
mcn-l@mcn.edu/msg10750.html
where the registrar claims that .art domains will rank better in search,
but when challenged did not follow up with evidence.
I can see the domain being useful for a new institution without an
established domain name, where the ".art" part has some euphonius or
meaningful quality (but I can't think of any examples, honestly).

Original Message------
Can anyone provide insight about the new .ART domains that became available this week? There's a good list of museums and galleries that have already registered, and we're considering it to secure the domain. Unfortunately our preferred URL is kind of expensive, so I'd like to be more informed before proceeding. Have your museums registered for a .ART URL? Have you seen any museums already using it, either as a redirect or primary URL? Thanks in advance for your responses.
